Bugle Head Self Drilling Screw

Self Drilling Screw
Bugle head Self Drillnig Screw is designed for fastening drywall or other panels to metal studs or joists. The bugle head allows the screw to countersink into the drywall for a flush finish. The concave underside of the bugle head distributes stress evenly as the screw drills through the metal, helping prevent material tear-out.
They drill their own pilot hole due to their threaded drill point tip, while simultaneously tapping threads into the metal as they are driven in. This eliminates the need for pre-drilling.
Common surface treatments include black phosphate, gray phosphate, zinc plating, and yellow zinc plating. These provide corrosion resistance and improve driveability.
Bugle heads are preferred over pan or flat heads for drywall attachment since they sit flush with the surface rather than tearing through the paper facing.
Proper drill speed and bit size selection is important when driving self-drilling screws to avoid damaging the screw head or material being fastened. Slow speed/high torque settings are best. Length must be selected appropriately for the thickness of material being attached to ensure proper engagement into metal structure behind.
